Commissioned into the German navy at Kiel in 1943.
Surrendered in Canadian waters to the RCN in May 1945.
Commissioned by the RCN as HMCS U-889 in May 1945.
Turned over to the USN at Portsmouth, New Hampshire
on the 11th of January 1946.
